Artists' Statement

Barbara Haviland's work in oils captures the essence of the world around us, from the vibrant colors of the bayou to the delicate beauty of flowers. Through thin layers and meticulous attention to light and shadow, she brings her subjects to life in a way that allows viewers to not only see, but also smell and touch. Inspired by the world around her, Barbara seeks out unique scenes that speak to her, using bold, bright colors to counteract the darkness she sees. Her technique, influenced by a variety of sources, results in art that is truly unique and captivating. Each painting is a testament to her skill and passion for creating beauty in a world that can often feel bleak.

I was voted Best Artist of Tyler County and did not know I was running.  Thanks to all who voted for me
